Joint stiffness and pain in fingers. Age 21

Hi there i've had symptoms of joint stiffness and pain for almost 2 years. It started of as a very subtle stiffness, and now is quite painful. I go to the gym regularly and have lost grip strength as my joints are very painful doing deadlifts. I've also noticed a bony growth on 1 of my PIP joints. I have seen the doctor and all my blood tests were fine, and I have no other symptoms. The doctors seem to brush this off because i'm quite young. But i'm really worried as i'm very young and don't want to lose function of my hands. i just wanted to get anny suggestions from you guys. I thought about OA but I'm fit and healthy and exercise regulary so I don't know why I would develop it so young.
Would appeciate some advice

I get arthritis because of old age - naturally. However, I feel that as you are so young, you are over exercising your joints - specially hands - in gripping your equipent so tightly in the grm and straining your joints etc. Try knocking back some of the sessions to give your joints a rest, and see if this eases the pain. Anything is worth a try. Good Luck Janet

Sorry to hear of your problems. Dont forget OA is a 'wear and tear' condition, it affects older people because of the years of life's strains and movements but it can affect younger people if they are causing excessive wear and tear to a particular joint. Daphine's suggestion I agree with, ask to see a rheumatologist, as there are many forms of arthritis, not just osteo. Ask your doctor whether there were any inflammatory markers or not in your blood tests which could help to rule out certain conditions.

HI, thanks for the suggestions. I do understand OA is a wear and tear condition, but I haven't really been over exerting myself. I haven't really been able to lift heavy anymore as it's quite painful. The bloods were all negative. They checked my CRP, RF, UA, and VITD. There was nothing in the bloods suggestive of anything.
I'm a medical student myself and I'm quite stumped on the matter. Hoping to see the doctor tomorrow and suggest possibly some imaging to see the damage to my joints.

I understand it must be worrying for you. As a medical student at least you'll be on the ball regarding the possibilities and hopefully be able to understand the results better. PIP joint inflammation is usually OA and can as you're probably aware be down to just lifelong wear and tear or maybe a strain or injury to the hand. The bony growth sounds like the common way the joint tries to protect itself when there is fluid loss by producing more bone and fluid. Have you had x-rays yet?

I wouldn't worry, simple. At this stage - go back to your doc, talk openly with them, ask them all the questions. If no good - find another doc, if no good find a specialist. If nothing - don't worry
