Hi julia75698 welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed with fibro in 2014, after 10 years and many many tests seeing lots of specialists a rheumatologist diagnosed fibro. Fibro is based on widespread pain which can affect any where in the body. fibro has many many symptoms fatique pain numbness tingling burning earache anxiety depression sore throat blured vision hair loss balance problems sensitive to smell noise light and clothing. difficulty with walking fibro fog speech problems these are just a few of the many symptoms fibro throws at us. the only people that really understand fibro are those that have it. many drs have no understanding of it and some dont believe in it. some areas have fibro support groups that you can join they normally meet once a week. your gp can refer you toa apain clinic. cbt therapy. also some areas offer hydrotherapy for so many weeks accupunture for 12 weeks. fibro varies in the severity of it from mild to severe. Their are many different symptom the symptoms vary in how long they last. it depends on how fibro affects you as fibro affects us all differently. fibro is very much a learning curve for us all its trial error with everything. as what meds suit 1 person they may mot suit another. its trying different things to see what suits you and what doesnt. aids to help you eg bath board wheel chair walking stick walking frame stool for kitchen. we have to learn to pace ourselves with fibro and not do too much as if we do fibro fights back and causes us more pain and makes us feel quiet poorly. so paceing is very very important. stress worry dont help our condition it makes it 10xworse and causes more pain.we go through different emotions with fibro denial, anger, grieving for the person we use to be and finally acceptance. as yet their is no cure for fibro. your gp will try you on different pain meds to see what works for you and what doesnt. eating health trying to stay positive paceing ourselves resting and listening to what your body tells you all helps. being kind to our selves treating ourselves helps to give us a lift.hot baths showers may help to relieve pain its trying different things to see what works for you. Its normally a rheumatologist that diagnoses fibro thats after other conditions have been ruled out eg rheumatoid arthritus. unfortunatly with fibro you may find that you are unable to do what you once could. some of us have had to give up our jobs because of fibro. This forum is a great site to be on for support and information. hope this gives you an insight into fibro its down to how fibro affects you and finding what works for you and what doesnt. and seeing what support and help their is where you live. your local cab can give you help advice on benefits. take care kaz40

Have you tried acupuncture? It helped when I was in those shoes. What meds are you taking, if there nt working then you need to get off of them see thedoc. Sometimes the meds make it worse, it did for me. I still have pain some, horrible sleep, but I can live my life.it isn't exactly how I want .I can know stun doctors who thought I was going to be an invalid . they can't object to doing surgeries because of fibro, as I have control not the fibro. Remember that you are your only advocate.this means yiu must fight when needed, and research until you have the answers. Good luck
