Just a hello.

Ok I probably should of did this before now just want to introduce myself, as I've found this group very helpful and If being more than a random name on a screen helps someone else then I'm all for it.

My name is Eamonn I'm 34 and from Northern Ireland. I've been diagnosed with LS over a year and have had some good results with treatment so much so I'd say for the time being I'm 99 percent back to I was before. If anyone needs any advice or support I'm here and this disease shouldn't be as taboo a subject as it is. Sorry for my waffling on and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi Eamonn. I'm from NI too. Female of course and just a tad older. Ah hemm! You didn't say what your treatment was or who was treating you. I only see my Gp and have had this hateful condition for over 12 years. Managing with very little help. Anyway glad your 99% better. If you know of someone medically who s clued in I'd appreciate your info. Good luck.

Hey there closely related in age friend 😉, I had my diagnosis done in the Ulster hospital and I'll not name my Doctor's as although the treatment worked great for me I was continually misdiagnosed for over a year which made the scarring of my skin much worse. My own personal routine is dermol lotion as a soap replacement and cetraban as a barrier cream which I use in the morning and I'm using dermovate twice a week down from twice a day at the start to every two days to now twice a week maintenance.

Now although totally my own opinion and maybe I just imagined it but having Himalayan pink salt baths really helped with my redness and irritation when the condition was worse.

Thanks for getting back. Similar treatment plan. Think diet plays a big part too. You'll come across lots of different ideas and how others manage this condition. Nice to know we have this and get great empathy and support from others.

so happy for you, I wish you continued luck and health...I am not familiar with cetraban, will have to look up..

Lol yea I know, on the plus side I don't feel as embarrassed now since I've got talking to others, bearing in mind when I was meeting new girlfriends etc I was so badly scarred at one point I used to lie saying id caught myself on my zip.

    Hi Eamonn,

You're correct, this forum has been a great source of information for many! I'm in the USA, and when I was diagnosed 20 odd years ago nothing like this existed. And more information needs to be out there for me and women.

I know because I have an auto immune disease already, thyroid problem, that can be one of the under lying reasons for my LS. Just curious what your doctor, or any doctor feels the under lying cause that men also get LS? I'm happy to read you have yours managed quite well, same is true for me. I think the best thing is be vigilant about your care and I check myself everyday lol
