Hi, I was on Remicade for a year and a half. Had no problem and it worked great while it lasted. I went off and am now on Oriencia. Good luck, Jo

      Hello

      Thankyou for replying.

What did you mean"worked great while it lasted"?

After being on Remicade for a year and a half it stopping keeping the pain down and my RF or RA numbers began to go up along with my inflammation numbers, in other words it was not working to keep the inflammation down anymore so the doctor switched me to Oriencia. I have a good friend that has been on Remicade for 8years and has no problems.

Guess i want to change meds so i can carry on working as normally as possible. Self employed, building trade. Do you manage to work well with the RA?

Well I do ok.  I am retired. Before I got RA I played a lot of golf but having RA I still play golf but then there days I just don’t have the energy. More days than not I feel really good and do all the normal stuff.  I don’t let RA hinder me much.  Believe it or not sometimes I feel like I don’t have RA. I don’t take any pain medication just Oriencia and vitamin B12.

Sounds like your doing as well as you can so fair play to you. I inject with humira once every 2 weeks, take 12.5mgs of methotrexate weekly and 1 anti inflamatory pill daily. All my numbers stack up ok but its just the pain that drags me down. I take 3 codeine in morning with 3 paracetemoll and same in evening. The morning ones are just to get me going. I get up about 6 have breakfast then p/killers sit n watch the news while they kick in then off to work. I am off at the moment but hoping to go back next week. Anyways thanks for your msg.

In the UK it is called inflximab. It isn't that new - the FDA first approved it in 2006.

I am on Remicade and have been for the past 4 years and it is still working for me.  Before I started it, I could hardly move.  After my first infusion, I was back to normal as if I didn't have RA.  None of these drugs last forever but if you find one that works, stay with it until it doesn't, and then find something else.  I have no side effects with it either.  Good Luck!  Hope Remicade works for you!

    Hi

REMIcade has been around for many years, it was the first biologic drug I started on well over 12 years ago. For me it was a lifesaver, I got my life back and almost no pain. I moved to etanercept maybe 10 years ago primarily as it was self administered. I do hope the new meds do as well for you as they have for me

    Regards
