Just another update....

7 weeks tomorrow since THR.

Today I walked the dog at a fast pace for around 1.5 miles - hip felt absolutely fine.

I also ran today - ran!  First time in about 2 years or so - amazing and felt absolutely great.

Cannot believe how good I am starting to feel now - still got pains, aches and restricted movement due to muscle damage/weakness but still feel as though I'm getting my life back now.

See the consultant on Wednesday as follow up to the operation - hopefully will be cleared to start driving etc.

Stay positive fellow hippies.

Wow Mark, sounds as if you're doing fab!

I actually see my consultant when I'm only 5 weeks post op, I'm hoping he is able to lift restrictions at this point.

That's great Mark, I'm 2 weeks a hippy today and starting to feel a lot frustrated because I haven't been able to exercise in ages. I have to resist the running now as the surgeon warned me that if I run on my new hip it will wear faster and I am 45 so want it to last. I can't wait to get back on my race bike though and am seeing the surgeon next week so hope I can get back to a stationary bike.

Its just fabulous to hear progress from fellow hippies further down the track as you know not every day is fabulous, i overdid things a little yesterday and have had to force myself to walk a little slower today due to pain.

Thanks for the 7 week update, it is appreciated.

It is frustrating I know but I found each week, especially after week 4, the improvements came very quickly.  Running is really not recommended especially in us young ones (44 here) although some people do manage to run marathons but you have to wonder on the longer term implications of that.

I'm hoping to get my bike out soon too - been a while since I was able to do that.

    Hi Mark,

well done...it's good to read about our progress. I haven't tried running but I go up and down the stairs using both legs...amazing! The muscle pain is to be expected, I don't mind it , as long as I don't feel that other dreadful pain of walking bone on bone! That has dishappeared completely...such a relief!

    Have a good day!
