Hello, for many years Ive had the strangest symptoms, Dull sickening ache down my arms & a stiff uncomfortable neck, painful hands and fingers, strange vision, dizziness, I drain of colour and feel faint, palpatations and tiredness, Ive just found out I have cervical ribs, now all of this makes sense ,Its not all in my mind ,I dont feel like an idiot when I visit my G.p anymore. My recent symptoms are very swollen hands and they feel like they are on fire and my scalp on the left hand side was so painful (like the scalp had been scalded) and the pain went down my neck and into what felt like my ears,(no ear infection was found)This was so bad I ended up in A&E where they took an x-ray of my neck and hey presto a diagnoses.
does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
best regards Kibbles

I was hopeful then, after seeing the first doctor - but now I'm not.
New doctor said MRI results were normal - So I haven't got extra ribs then?
Oh (looks through notes & xray) but thats not unusual & you dont need surgery. Many typists get these symptoms - it's bad posture.
So how come i wake up with it most nights, shaking & sometimes unable to move my arms?
Er, we'll send you for physio, its possible you may have slight evidence of TOS.
So I just live with it then?
I think he's of the opinion 'its all in your head' like I had before. Don't think they even knew what they were looking for on the scan. I had to chase that up too!
I know i'm not stupid - I never even went to the doctors for 10 years. My little finger is also completely white as I write this.
Yours disillusioned - But NOT depressed!

They have found a nodule in my Thyroid. Hyperthyroidism can cause similar problems to TOS - Pain & numbness etc. I still have my 2 spare ribs, but will be referred to a neck specialist - so at least they're looking in the right area I hope! Best wishes to all x
