Just been diagnosed with Herpes

Hey there, so sadly I was disabled with herpes this morning. I am in so much pain and I can't even walk. I have so many blisters it's unbelievable how some people get all this and some people have 0 symptoms. How is this fair??? The doctor put me on antiviral meds so I've started taking them today. How long is it before they start to take effect? Also my blisters keep changing from a white/yellow colour to a dark brown yellow colour, is this darker colour them scabbing? Does scabbing mean healing?

So sorry to hear this!!! I can't answer your question from a medical stand point but can tell you I usually begin getting relief 2 to 5 days after starting anti viral medication. Take it easy, rest and try to stay comfortable.

That's what I'm trying to do. Back to uni on Monday so hoping it's settled by then. Did you find anything that helped you to walk more comfortably? Stop the sores rubbing together?

Yes Hun scabbing means they are healing and it varies from person to person but it usually takes about 5 days or so for the meds to kick in

I was told to keep the area clean, however when I clean it the scabs seem to dissappeard and turn to pus again. This is a nightmare!!

My situation today is different. What is turning out to be the love of my life is coming into town tomorrow for our first weekend together. We have been friends for 30 years since I was 15. He is aware of my diagnosis and is not bothered in the least. I am on 1000 mg of valtrex most of the time and have few to little out breaks. The excitement of him coming and the stress of my regular life worry me though. I have had aches in my right leg but don't know if it's just all in my head. My outbreaks occur on my left hip/buttock area and I guess I am just freaked about transmitting anything to him this weekend. What would you do?

If he knows and isn't bothered you have nothing to worry about. Stress can bring on outbreaks but hopefully you haven't triggered one and when they arrive I'm sure you'll feel at ease!

Ask your doctor to prescribe you Zovirax cream. Blisters go away in 3-4 days
