Just been prescribed Lyrica after 10mins with doc.

I have been described lyrica. i went to docs after a 5 day chronic pain within my shoulders and neck. I rarely visit the doc but had a back operation 4 years ago and have been on seroplex (mild antidepressant) for 20+ years for hormonal reasons. I don't like taking medication unless really necessary but the pain has been excrutiating. I have looked up lyrica and afterreading the side effects i certainly won't be taking my first pill this evening before more research. Any advise?

    Hi Mandy,

You may get slight side affects for a week or two but its nothing majer (feeling tied, hungrey and a little of balence) but they do work quite well for pain management

mandy. be very careful with this med , I only took 28x25mg caps over 21 days, have been having problems since first day, it doesn't suit me and I have been very ill. have been trying to get off since july this year, smallest dose poss .1 of a ml, very potent.side effects awful. withdrawal  just as bad, it has incapicitated me,am just about housebound and bed bound, it has a paralysing effect on  me am like a drunk andy pandy,  you might tolerate , but  just be aware what it does  to some people. wish you all the best  rosie xx

Thank you so much rosemary for your input.

The info that I have gathered in 24hrs seems to point me down the same route.

I feel so sorry for your situation. Please persevere with coming off of it. You will do it.... and hopefully regain some form of normality and you can then reasses your health. All the  best.

Hi Ive just been prescribed this too & I'm shocked by the side effects list...just had a bad reaction to Mirtazipine & had to come off that. The more I read the more I don't want to try this one...
