just been told I've got a fatty liver... scared

I had a oophorectomy in May so both ovaries gone and because I'm only 40 put on hrt. Liver was fine before op but on routine hormone test it had come back that I have elevated enzyme in my liver. I have put on 3 stone since op too. Am I doomed or is there a way back. I've been on strict diet to try lose the weight but it's not dropping like it would have before. Being told I'm obese (size 14) and made to feel very small by my Gp has stopped me wanting to go back and ask questions. I don't know how elevated levels are.

hey hello froggy! like yourself I was recently told I had a fatty liver, which initially scared me to death, but a few months on after seeing a consultant and having a fibroscan, I was relieved to be told that merely by losing weight my problem would cure itself, I need to lose 2 stone roughly and I am having a struggle with that. They are too quick at calling people obese in my opinion! Try and arrange to see a Gastroentrologist for advice, and a scan which will detail just how much fat is around your liver. Best wishes froggy, and I'm sure you will get some sound advice on here, is it an option to see another GP for 2nd opinion?

I have fatty liver I weighed 9.7, (size 14 bmi 24 )was told to loose weight. I stopped having sugar, had more salads,I looked at healthy eating on nhs Web site and lost 9ib.

I went to to see liver specialist and had a fibroscan it was 10.1 and now it is 7.1 so it's repairing it's self.

I have never drank alcohol but if you do I would stop.

Ask questions..does your gp think you should see a specialist, should you go for a scan.

Have you to have more bood tests.

I was told to eat healthy,I look at everything I buy now especially hide suger in food fructose and sucrose.

Ps I don't drink at all and have been on slimming world for a while as weight been piling on since op but that does allow me small sweet snacks or cars like potatoes. Maybe I need to cut all that out too and just eat veg and meat. Do you think that helps?

Thank you both for replying and putting my mind at ease a bit. I've been told to lose weight and come back for another test in 3 months. It seems a long time if something is very wrong. Gp almost dismissed it as nothing they can do its your own fault your fat. Yes different Gp for advice maybe best way. Thanks
