Just came off sertraline after 6 months and suffering so much.

Started taking sertraline 6 months ago and suffered every side effect going, yes for 6 months solid. Docs just upped my dose claiming it would help but only made things worse.

Got to the point where I had to tell my Doc that she wasn't listening and the sertraline had made me very unwell. Been off them for 3 weeks and thankfully 99% of the side effects have worn off apart from constantly Spinning out and feeling as if I going to Pass out and its getting worse.

Anyone else suffered this? if so for how long for as its driving me nuts.

With Thanks.

I was only on it for just under 3 weeks and it took me a few days for the side effects to go . I thinks because it’s been in your system longer you may be different

I have also been off Sertraline for three weeks. My head was dizzy on it and I remain dizzy. What were your other side effects?

    What dose were you on?

    Was your sleep effected?

I developed tinnitus on Sertraline which may account for the dizziness. Does your head feel heavy?

Hi sorry for delay its just i've been sooo Ill.

I was on 50mg for 3mths and then upped to 100mg.

The dosage was upped when I tried to explain, to my Doctor,  that since i've been on sertraline I average a total of two hrs sleep a night. So that's two hrs sleep a night for 3 months and it was killing me. She recommended that I increase my dose to 100mg and the reason I was not sleeping was due to my anxiety and not the sertraline.  All that happened was the dreadful side effects got worse and I still couldn't sleep.

Yes tinnitus and all listed side effects including my thigh going numb, nightmare.

I came off sertraline 4 wks ago and most of the side effects dissipated in a few days the problem is now that the withdrawal effects are is horrific.

The main problem  is known by a few names but I'll call it Brain sapping  (spinning out). It's basically drug withdrawal complicated with your brain trying to establish new neural networks, repairing it self.

Good news is no long term effects, bad news can possibly last months depending on the damage.

I'm just very annoyed that when sertraline was suggested I was in a very vulnerable place and would have said No Thank You if the complications were explained to me.

To counteract the Brain sapping I'm now on a Antipsychotic which is bringing its own issues but is taking the edge off.

      Regards Chris.
