hello, it was a shame you lost contact with your original doctor, so you could carry on with the slow celexa reduction, as you were. how long has it been since you stopped celexa, and how are you finding it now you are off it? the nurse will have suggested you go back on celexa, for a short period, not permanantly, on a low dose, so you can carry on reducing slowly, to minimise the side effects. whether you go back on it, to slowly come off it, depends on how long youve been off it, and how you are doing. see what your new doctor says. theres no point in you going back on celexa permanantly. 5htp may work for you, but if you start on another anti depressant, then you need to stop 5htp. its okay to take it while not taking an anti depressant. it would take about 1 month on 5htp to get an idea if it works or not. whatever, follow your new drs advice.

as long as you can cope, keep it up. dont normally recommend cold turkey giving up, but sometimes fate or circumstances mean you do or have to, and it works out. i think 5htp sounds like its a very good alternative. always wanted to try it, but havent got the bottle to come off an anti depressant to do so. i tried it once, while on seroxat, had a massive panic attack. dont know whether it was in my mind, or seratonin syndrome.wasnt going to try both at the same time again.

circumstances have put you in a position to try it, nothing to lose, as long as you dont start taking an anti depressant again. please let me know how you get on with it. all the best.
