Can someone give me advice on how to go on with being diagnosed with hsv2.  I Just  recently found out and I have so many questions. Doctors don't even care they just give you meds and don't even care to answer your questions. Can someone who has been experiencing this for quite a while can tell me how long and how often I'll have outbreaks. I just finish a 5 day course of acyclovir and it took the sores away but im itchy all over.. someone help what can make me feel better. I live at home with my mom and it's hard to do things without her watching me. I don't even want to tell her I'm so embarrassed 😭This Is so life changing

I completely understand what you are going through. I just completed my first outbreak and it was excruating pain. I cried myself to sleep every night. For some reason the more research I do about it I feel better about my self because it gives you more knowledge about it. How frequent you'll get an outbreak all determines on you. Your diet, stress, and many other things. I can't give too much information because I'm still learning.

What I can say it try to avoid being with you mom. That's what I did till my sores were gone. I was itchy all over and ended up with BV (bacterial vagnosis) which now I'm on medicine for.

It's very hard to accept and move forward I'm slowly learning how too. It does help that I have a boyfriend who is accepting to it. But NO ONE else knows so I feel alone but this forum has helped in so many ways.

    Goodluck xx

Thanks and best of luck to you too.. im just so depressed. This is so life changing. I just feel dirty like no one will ever love me. That I won't  be able to give my  daughter the family that She deserves to have one day (well that's what i wanted an de would think I would meet Simone one day and make a life since I'm a single parent) I feel that I'm such a bad example for her 😭and the person who I think gave it to me will deny it.. that's for sure!!!is it possible to have the virus and develop symptoms a year later?

It's possible, but less common. Most first outbreaks occur within a week of infection. If you test for IgG antibodies to HSV2 within a month of your outbreak and it is still negative, but you tested positive for herpes by swab, then there's your proof that it's a very new infection. The window to prove this is slim, however.

I never pictured my self telling someone I have gential herpes. I broke down in my boyfriends arms telling him, cried myself to sleep all week even in his arms.

One thing I've learned from EVERYONE on here is don't feel ashamed, don't feel dirty. What is it like 1 out of 6 people have HSV2, if you think about it that's allot! And the transmission from female to male apparently is less when using protection.

Don't feel like you won't be able to give your daughter a family! You will! To be completely honest I thought my boyfriend was going to tell me to get out of his house when I told him and I was completely wrong! There are people out there that don't care.

I have become so crazy now that I write everything down. When I got my sores to when they were gone the slightest tingle this way I start to learn my body now. Like the other person said 4-6 times a year, that's not too bad. Also depends on how you take care of yourself. I've gone to the extent to see about the diet and what foods can trigger an outbreak. That's how crazy I am and I've only been diagnosed since August 3rd.

      Keep your head up!!

I've read on different sites and they say it's good to take vitamin c to help boost up your immune system and help minimize future OB.I really want to try it. I'm also thinking about changing my diet and excersice regularly maybe that will help. I feel dehydrated and itchy all over. I'm just going nuts.

The IgM test for herpes is notoriously unreliable and inaccurate, so isn't advised by experts or the CDC. Your results can be disregarded. Were you also swabbed?

Leading a healthy lifestyle is the best thing for herpes, so a balanced diet and regular exercise are good. Even though a balanced diet should give you all you need vitamin-wise, I do take a multivitamin, fish oils and extra Vit. C. I don't bother with lysine supplements, nor do I worry about what I eat, only that it's healthy and balanced.

No i wasn't swab but I did have sores so he decided to treat me . A month ago I had a blood test and was negative had a few symptoms but he didn't say it was herpes. Then when I started to have more symptoms he decided to take another blood test and treat me for hsv2. Yesterday I got my results and they were positive. I'm so confused trying to find answers as well as in shock that this would happen to me

Many doctors are misinformed about herpes and herpes testing. He should have swabbed you. That is the most direct and accurate test. The next time you develop lesions, see a doctor asap and insist on a type-specific swab test for herpes. Older lesions aren't so reliable to swab, hence the asap.

Your IgG result is the only one that matters at the moment, and you are still negative despite having had similar symptoms earlier. You can retest for IgG  3+ months after your visual diagnosis. If still negative, your visual diagnosis may be wrong (a swab will set the record straight).

Next time I develop them I will have them test me or  just go to a different clinic. I did have active lesions when I went and he said he could swab me but I was in so much pain I just showed him the pics of my vag area that I had taken. I had 3 different sores they didn't look like a blister it was just a red sore and would burn when I would pee to the point were I felt like screaming and cried every single time. He then treated me and send me for a second lab Then after that I got my period I only got them on the inside nothing on the outside. Then he said since my igm result was positive I had it. Now I'm so itchy all over my body and my private areas(vag and back part) I'm going insane trying to find relieve. I was upset the fact that I called the clinic and they refuse to give another dose. I don't have anything now and just ending my period which was really light but I'm dying with this itch.. then I asked if I can take it every day and they said no but I read people take it every  day. I just wanna feel better😭Feeling better  physically will definitely help me deal with all the emotions

I think you need to confirm if it is in fact herpes and which type you have first before considering daily medications and worrying about herpes, etc. As it stands, you have no reliable test result to confirm that it's herpes or whether it's even HSV1 or 2 if it is. Visual diagnoses can be wrong and there are other things that can sometimes pass for herpes. May not be wrong in your case, but you just don't know. As noted, the IgM test and result is worthless.

Thank you I'm really considering seeking a second opinion. As for now I'm on my way to buy Benadryl to see if it helps with itching .

Diluted tea tree oil can help reduce itching. Regarding outbreaks, gHSV2 tends to recur around 4-5 times a year on *average*, so that means some women will experience less, others more. Nobody can predict your frequency. Recurrences are usually much milder than the first outbreak at least. For more info, see my discussion pinned to the top of this forum. It contains external links as well. Also see Patient's main site for info on herpes, plus the CDC, ASHA, etc.

Im super itchy all over my body but mainly inside my vag and the back part. It's driving me completely nuts I called the doc today and the nurse said that another dose wasn't approved and to come in next week. I'm just going crazy thinking so many things. Is this itching thing normal after an outbreak?

Go back sooner. I was sooo itchy on the inside of my vagina that I was super red and very irritated and I ended up with a bacterial vagonsis now I'm on medicine for that.

It can be for some people, though usually the itching is confined to the genitals. As you'll discover, herpes symptoms, triggers and experiences differ greatly between people. For example, stress, periods, sex and/or certain foods are not always a trigger. Itching, tingling and nerve pain are not always issues. It varies a lot!
