Just Diagnosed, Any Support?

Hi, I'm almost 22 years old and last week was diagnosed with genital herpes. I'm waiting for the culture results to come back. I've been miserable with Christmas right now.
It all started over 2 weeks ago with a tingling sensation that I couldn't describe. I went to the doctor and found out I had a UTI. After 3 days of bactrim, I still had discomfort. I went back to the med express clinic and they told me I had a yeast infection even though the culture came back as negative. The medicine didn't help, so I went back to a different clinic and the doctor said she saw legions that appeared to be herpes.
This was last Thursday. She put me on Valtrex but I think I started too late for it to have much of an effect. I still feel burning on the outside of my vagina, clitoris, and rectum. It's not terrible and I can handle it . It's mostly a discomfort at this point. I also developed a slight rash in my public area. Luckily , I haven't felt much of a need to scratch it
I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. I had him get std tested (urine and exam) before we had unprotected sex when I got on birth control. Everything came out negative then. I've never had a cold sore in my life, but he has and we have a fair share of oral sex, so I am hoping the strain is hsv1.
I know to listen to the results once I get them, but would it be fair to assume it's the first strain with that info?
Also, were you able to get on Valtrex as needed or do you have to go for an exam every time you experience symptoms? Thank you! Also, is it true the first outbreak is usually the worst? I will talk to my doctor when she calls, but hearing advice may help me feel better until then.
I'm trying so hard to think of this as a common cold. Something annoying that may come back but you can rest and it goes away.

The doctor told me that genital herpes virus is in you for life meaning the rash can go away but it really occurs although for some people the herpes rash dosent come back for decades. The doctor at the error gave me valacyclovir or something like that and a shot in my thigh ayou he hospital he told me take the medicine for 10 days and no sexualy activity with in the 10 days cause it's contagious. I've been told hearing he medicine for about 3 days nowith every 12 hours and the bumps are smaller but peeing really sucks I've noticed yoldhrakinghat I started itching down there but I'm trying not to itch it. I told my boyfriend about it and he told me he is here for me through everything but he told me he does not have it I told him to just get checked in case and I told my ex being the only guy I've ever had sex with and he is very rude about it saying it wasn't him but I do not know who gave it to me. The doctor at error told me he can not get refill but go to your main doctoreason when you break out and he will give you medicine her told me you don't take the medicine for life. And trust me finding out I had this sucked too I've been feeling discussing and mine started off with a fever and head ache

Hello. I was diagnosed with HSV 1 and it was from oral sex with no cold sore. I'm on Valtrex as a daily dsuppresant. It's only been a couple of months.

Yes they did. I'm still trying to understand why if you do get herpes type 1 is the better one yo have?

Hi Melanie..
I know exactly how your feeling. I think I have GH too! It's so painful and it has put a massive downer on my Christmas this year!

Thank you guys. Unfortunately my swab test came up negative even though I am pretty sure I have it. I wanted to know the type. I am not telling my parents about it.
I'm having my boyfriend get blood tested for both hsv1 and 2 to see which one I most likely have. I'm just waiting for my bv and other std results.
I have taken valtrex for 6 days now but still have the burning and irritation. I assume it's from taking the medicine too late and that the primary outbreak will just have to go away on its own.
