Hi im helen im 19 and was diagnosed with lichens in march 2012, I have had problems since I was 15, with prolonged menses and only now lichens has been noticed, I am always sore, sex is so painful I end up with splits and tears all the time soemtimes sex can even make me cry with pain but I push through it for my partners sake. At first I went to get the coil out at the GUM clinic and it was only then when a new doctor seen me that she said it was not right, I told her everything and she said I think you may have this condition, she referred me to a dermatologist who I have now seen twice, I had no biopsy she said straight away I have this and gave me dermovate told me to use it every day for a month then every other the next month and the last month was three times a week, I went back a few days ago for my appointment with her and she is referring me to a gynocologist to have surgery. I have a partner he understands I am in a lot of pain all the time and understands why sometimes I say I dont want sex, I feel awful but its just so painful and burns a lot. I am really scared about the surgery they say its because I am too narrow. Its really hard going physically and mentally. I Looked at these forums to see what other people experienced with this and I would just like some advice on other things I could do to try and stop the pain and what the surgery might entail. Helen
