Just diagnosed today- Is anyone else extremely tired?

smile Hi everyone. I just got diagnosed with Tietze's today after suffering chest pain on my right side for 6 weeks. Looking at this discussion board, I can see that I'm lucky to have been diagnosed so quickly, some of you have been suffering for years and not known what the cause was.

One thing I have a question about: Does anyone else feel extremely tired? I have been struggling with the pain in my chest and have been finding it hard to stay awake past 9pm. Does anyone else have the same symptoms?

I think this discussion board is great, as not many people know about Tietze syndrome (including some doctors). Its good to know that there are other people out there going through then same thing.

I am a 45 year old woman who has been diagnosed with tietzes and woke up early hours of this morning with the most horrendous higher chest pain on my left hand side. breathing fine, my heart beat was fine but the pain was bad. lasted for 5 minutes and then subsided and continued off and on all day. It makes me feel really exhausted,. but have been through alot of stress for three months and wonder if this has caused such a bad bout of it. Also have pins and needles in three fingers. Have been to the doctor and she touched the exact spot where the pain comes from and re-diagnosed it with tietzes. No one seems to no the causes and still makes me feel frightened, cos it comes on anytime.

I wrote earlier about my 13 year old daughter having Tietze's - she has had deadful problems with tiredness. It's been as much an issue as the pain itself. The GP felt the tiredness was the result of pain but I'm not convinced, I think it could be the virus. Often she suddenly goes white as a sheet and says she's really tired. If we walk more than 2/3 minutes she goes really pale and complains of feeling nauseous. She hasn't been able to complete a full week at school since the end of March however this week she has finally started to turn a corner. The pain remains but if she keeps up religiously with the 3x daily pain relief then the rest of the symptoms seem to become more manageable. I hope you're ok soon.

 Hi Ive just been diagnosed with tietze after being ill for 6 weeks, had number of ecg's and chest xrays but they all came back fine. I too like your daughter get extremely tired after walking short distances with a nauseous feeling most of the day. Doctors say that its due to the pain, but even when I dont have the pain, I still feel sick with terrible head pains. Living on painkillers and prayer at the moment. Hope your daughter feels better soon, I'm just hoping this thing is going to go away as fast as it arrived !!

Hi, yes I am off my food. Since being diagnosed Ive lost a stone in weight, I'm not very heavy to start with so I can't really afford to lose anymore!! I feel terribly sick but chest pains are gone? work that one out - its so frustrating and worrying. I'm back at doctors again today to see what he can do for me, if anything. Hope your feeling better soon and hope work is a bit mo0re understanding of your condition. It really is so difficult to explain to people how ill you feel without sounding like a hypochondriac! You have my sympathy, keep smiling :D

Hi, I have been suffering for over 10years now. I have a medical background and therefore self diagnosed quickly. I do suffer from tiredness, weight loss (due to inappetance) when I am having a severe bout. These symptoms are all very common for anyone suffering from any type of painful condition. I tend to find that the three different types of analgesia that I am on also make me even more tired, and cause severe stomach blouting. If you are taking NSAIDs like ibuprofen, naloxone etc., it is worth asking your GP for gastroprotectants like losec. They can cause feelings of nausea. It can also be worth asking to see a pain control specialist, as using a multimodal approach to pain releif can be beneficial.

Hi again, I cant say I feel worse on a morning as every day seems to be different for me. Sometimes I think Im turning a corner then BANG it hits me again. I went back to the docs the other day and he has given me a tablet for acid reflux, which I have to take every day for 1 month to see if this eases my sickness. Today I have what I can only describe as what I imagine whiplash to feel like. My back and neck are stiff and Im getting shooting pains when I move - great! I hope you are having more luck.

I was just diagnosed with Tietzes Syndrome today, and it is like solving a mystery! Yes, I also get very tired. I wake up tired even though I get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. I have always assumed my inability to take a deep breathe was from my asthma, but after being examined today, the doctor said it was Tietzes, and that the cartilage in my chest was inflammed. I also have been having dreams that I am suffocating, like an elephant is sitting on my chest and I can't breathe. I feel like that all day long, for the past several months. When the doctor pressed on my chest it triggered a coughing fit that I had a difficult time stopping. A couple of years ago I had that sharper chest pain everyone else seems to have, but this time around it mostly feels like an ache and a flu-like sensitivity. Can anyone relate to this? I am tired of feeling crappy! I am very athletic but have no energy for my workouts! Help!

hi, i havent been diagnosed with tietzes syndrome but have these symptoms - pain between 2nd rib up from my stomach. at first i thought it was my stomach causing the pain but now after 3 months 11 blood tests, 8 trips to a and e, ultrasound scan, 6 ecg's, heart monitored, blood pressure, all came back fine. i got the nausea at first for a month but it has eased off now also had breakouts of sweats and 3 panic attacks, friends had to stop over with me about 5 times as i was scared to hell i was going to have a heart attack. finnally after 3 months ive had 7 nights sleep, hooray, its no joke sitting up all night starring at the wall thinking shall i go back to a and e for them to tell me everythings fine. i lost 1 and a half stone in 3 months. a good thing really as i was a lil overweight. but good to find this discussion. coping a lot better now. keep strong people , its hard but we can do it. ahh also waiting on an endoscopy eek, not looking forward to that but hey ho lets do this lol.
