    Hi lady,

I am 34 years old and newly diagnosed with hsv-2. I initially was horrified, but went to pph with a list of questions that were all answered with clinical facts, I suggest you do the same. I'm not so scared of it anymore. I took the antivirals and they really help, as well as lysine and a daily suppliment. My mother was the first person I told, and her response was a relief, she said she would never stop hugging or kissing me, and this doesn't change anything other then the fact that this virus is an uncomfortable rash that can be spread unless taken care of properly. This is NOT the end of the world or your future, you are still you right? You can still move forward in life and do anything you put your mind to. This is such a small event in the grand scheme of life. Stay healthy, don't smoke or drink, and although it may seem hard now, don't stress, it can make things worse. As far as the boyfriend thing goes, just be honest and you will mist likely be suprised at the response. Your not a dirty person and you never asked for this. Stay positive, goid luck,

I haven't told her yet, because when I told her that I thought I might have it she reacted really rudely and asked me if I had been behaving like a slut which is not the case with any disease or std at all. I didn't ask for this . I'm afraid she will also judge me .

From what I've been seeing and reading lately it's possible for anyone to get type one , very easily. If your drinking / eating off someone you can get it .. Now type 2 is sexual contact .., so yeah .

Your mother should be supportive of you either way .

Have you talked to your boyfriend about any of this yet ?

I have actually, he was incredibly understanding and calm about it probably since I was such a mess .He told me he was going to get tested but that he hasn't had any signs of sores or anything and that he'll get me the medication I need and so on .
