Just finding out partner has herpes

I just need answers my partner just recently found out that she has herpes and is experiencing her first outbreak . I haven't been tested yet but I don't know what to expect and what I should be worried about or not worry about . I'm very confused because my belief is that if she has it I have it since we are sexually active with one another .

Sorry to hear about your partner. Ok so there are a couple of things and questions to consider. Did she get a swab test and a blood(igg) test done? Here's why, if she did and the swab came back positive and the blood test negative it would suggest a recent infection. If positive by blood test during this first outbreak it would suggest she has had Hsv for at least three months but possibly longer. Were her symptoms noticed shortly after you two were intimate? Often, the primary infection and symptoms occur between 2 days to 2 weeks of exposure...For those that have symptoms. Most importantly, not everyone shows symptoms of Hsv as a matter of fact the majority do not or experience only mild symptoms which can easily be misdiagnosed as something else. Yes it is possible that you are positive but the only way to know for sure is to get tested and that will be very helpful to your relationship going forward.

Ok so she has been tested through the swap test and it came back positive but she didn't get the blood test because the swap was positive so I'm guessing it's like well why get the swap. So because the swap came back positive does this mean that the infection is a recent infection ? She has also received oral sex from someone else could she have possible obtained the infection this way also? Her symptoms were also noticed maybe a few days after the last time we were intimate it started off as two scratches on her vagina and then expanded into an outbreak

She has only done the swap method . She has always test positive for hsv 2 and she's experiencing tremendous pain on her vagina so bad that she told me it hurts to sit and walk at times . This whole process is scary to me and it's hard to comfort her through all this she isn't taking it so lite.

I've had herpes for about 3 years now. I've been with my partner for 2 years and am currently pregnant. He has never contracted herpes from me and we live a normal life. He is fully aware of my condition and chose to start a family with me. I'm on supressive meds and obviously we stay away from each other when I'm having an outbreak.
