I had surgery Nov 10. Frozen (10 months also) bone spur inmpingement.  No overnight stay. Physical therapy the next day.  I go to p/t 3 times a week. Back to work after 2 weeks.... still have pain but starting to get a little lift!  Dr says count on a year.  I have been sluggish-no appetite  ever since. This takes a lot out of you. Hang in there!!!!!

I go in this Saturday for my first surgery as I have it in both shoulders. I was hoping to hear, that it’s a miracle and that you’ve never felt better. Oh well best to be realistic I guess.

I hope all goes well for you, keep us updated.

Maybe this will be your miracle!  My attitude is something is better than nothing! I could not live waiting for it to”go away” glad I did surgery.

Hello Burtpies please do not be put off as I am sure the operation will be a great success.  I didn't know what to expect no-one seems to tell you till the day of the operation but I had a fantastic team.  I had two consultants working on it because it had got so frozen and I start physio next week.  I agree with ibabug you cannot live with it, I had ten months of pain and I have been told it will take a few days to settle I am just probably expecting too much too soon my op was only done Monday. The main thing is the exercise it is a must. I  hope all goes well take care you will be fine.  This forum is a God send

    Maureen,

So far I am doing good; one week out of surgery. No overnight stay. This is my first and pray final manual manipulation with bone spurs removed. I took pain medication as prescribed for the first 24 hours because I was told when the  nerve block wore off; it could be very painful. It wasn’t. Understand, I do have a high tolerance to pain. Today is the 2nd round of physical therapy and the PT dr is very pleased. Also, I am faithful on the home exercises which with I wasn’t before surgery. Do your excercises! Tomorrow,  3rd day of PT and next it be 3x on MWF for 12 weeks. Now, I have to have pain for those. A girl can only take so much 😏

I hardly took pain meds- just me.. I would take 1/2 pill before rehab and 1/2 at night.  Ditto to the exercise thing. Do it- my p/t said that most of pain is guarding which is for me mind over matter.  He taught me to deep breath and push through the sticking point. Not fun but necessary.

      Ibabug,

You are so right-It is mind over matter. Army talk for me! Normally, for myself I am not a strong advocate for prescribed pain medication (only over the counter) but the pain was very intense. I go back to my surgeon in eight weeks and I expect him to say I am doing great! I realize it’s up to me with the home exercise. I do understand not everyone’s journey is the same. My first frozen shoulder, right; 2013-when I read about surgery it scared the fire out of me. I said there’s no way. This time I had no choice; four months of PT and the left shoulder was locked-turns out bone spurs with severe frozen shoulder. From what I read this shows up more in women?

Thanks Armygirl and ibabug you have both given me my stamina back I do need to start exercises asap I had overnight stay because operation got so late in day and I was dreading nerve block wearing off, however, it is painful but only taking my normal painkillers and I will make sure it wont happen again grrrrrrrr thanks all

Hello Maureen, I'm 8 months into a frozen shoulder! Stay strong and you'll get there! That's what I tell myself everyday 😀 Worst pain I've ever experienced in my life..  it gets you down, because there is no break from it, as it's chronic. I'm so glad I found this site too! It's nice to know we are not alone.

You can do it Maureen!  Every day I feel something new- some days hopeless which says to me -rest. Then on days that I feel more optimistic I work hard.  I drag into pt and when I leave I am reminded of my progress.  At 4 weeks I am where I am supposed to be.  I am so relieved to have you guys now who get it. What a gift to not be alone!!!!!!! Namaste
