Tina,
Everyone has swelling/bruising, lack of sleep, it is because you have had a big operation, you are going to have lots of niggling feelings, aches maybe odd pain etc. Try not to sit too long, do your exercises and walk as much as possible, after a month you will start to feel a lot better.

congratulations on your new shiny hip. in the beginning its all quite a struggle, life changing in many ways. i have had both hips replaced and one revision.
keep you leg up on a pillow and treat the area with ice for 20 minutes every few hours. atay ahead of the pain with a pain med schedule. walking will help with blood flow and swelling. a really good way for treatment for leg swelling especially this early after surgery when walking is not always helpful. the pressure massager wrap around leg , battery operated with blue leg sleeves slips over thigh and calf as the hand control operates the pressure which vibrates on the leg to help improve circulation and relieve pressure from swelling. in the hospital they used similar machines to help with circulation and swelling. these are very handy and offer immediate relief. they helped with swelling and pain. they are available on amazon.
sending you healing blessing on your journey to mobility.

hi Tina,
I am 10 days post op today & am doing well. Getting around on crutches & generally improved on last week.
That said, Im sore, battered & bruised & have a lot of swelling which goes down to & is very stiff around my knee. I'm assured that this is a pretty normal situation in most people though.
4 days til a physio visit & clips coming out.
All the best & keep doing the walking and excersises

Slightly in front of you Tina, I'm 15 days post op & had my clips out yesterday. Everything going well but like you have swelling around my knee especially tight at the back.
Physio said its pretty normal & will go in time, but if you can elevate your leg a couple of times a day it will help. They suggested putting a couple of books under your mattress at the foot end just to give it a slight incline over night.
Got some new excercises to do & walking as much as I can on 1 crutch now.
All will be fine
