JUST HAD VIVITY LENS IMPLANTED 3 WEEKS

Hi,

I had Vivity implanted in my non-dominant eye 3 weeks ago. I have good distance vision as expected, I have good mid-range vision (to type on my Mac Air) but my near vision (to see my smartphone and read a book or textbooks) is blurry. I am disappointed. I have read that my near vision could still improve with time. I would love to know if anyone has heard this as well. As far as any halos at night, I don't notice them, but my cataract was so bad with such bad halos that anything would seem like an improvement. I also have a cataract in my dominant eye, so any slight halos I see could be due to that as well. I am noticing a slight waviness in my peripheral vision, but this could just be the natural healing process. At the one month mark, I have the appt with dialation where I will see how I'm healing. I hope I haven't wasted nearly $3k.

I really don't understand how my brother had multifocals implanted 10 years ago and he can see well without glasses at both near and far distances, but I get the latest technology and am stuck in readers.

I would love to have any feedback on anyone else's experiences. I contacted the FDA to see if I could get more long-term stats but they have not responded.

I am day 3 in with cataract removal and vivity lens inserted into right now. Left eye to be done in 2 weeks.

The light is an issue with me. I get horizontal lines coming out of all bright lights . Anyone else has this ?

    Thanks,

    Peter

Peter if you can it would be better to have more than 2 weeks between your surgeries. takes 6 weeks to fully heal and the lens to settle. You may want to adjust the other eye depending in where the first eye settles.

    hi

    Gaylen14130

I just had my right eye done last Thursday. with the Vivity. So far so good. Just scheduled 2nd one for Wednesday May 5th. Has yours gotten any better at reading without glasses.

      Pam,

I am on a similar schedule to you with Vivity. I can see far and middle an ok to see that dashboard in a car but not reading. I am hoping to adjust the left eye for reading. Still get a little scratchiness, some horizontal lines from lights plus a little strain from being on a computer for 9 hours. But it IS early days . Less than 2 weeks after surgery,

Ho did MAy 5 go ?

hey i have the perfect solution for you ... not sure if anyone mentioned this yet ... I have the vivity in both eyes and im only 42 so clearly i was used to good vision and just got unlucky with early cataracts ... you did one eye for distance ... now ask the doctor to do the other eye .5 in now when you combined both eyes you wont need glasses ... here are the downsides i see 20/20 however sometimes in dim light i dont see as perfect as i would want at distance.. but i have not needed glasses for anythjng and im very happy if you have questions i can answer

I got vivity in both eyes five weeks ago. Good distance and intermediate. I can read near but just briefly before eyestrain sets in. Put on readers and I am fine My problem is at night . I see one very bright ring of light around lights. I was very clear that halos were not acceptable, yet these lenses were highly recommended. I am starting to doubt they will go away. Anyone with similar experience?

I'm new to this string. Read all. Need advice. Will startup New Discussion titled "Replacement Vivity Toric IOL," Had dominant left eye surgery #1 Mar. 25 and completed 8 weeks of drops. Vivity Toric IOL had rotated; severely out-of-focus. Had Vivity Toric IOL replacement surgery #2 May 20; outcome so far out-of-focus more severely for distance, mid-range, and reading. PostOp: "Read Chart." "What Chart?" Still have "good" natural right eye with a cataract. More to follow in new "Replacement Vivity Toric IOL" Discussion later. Disappointed! Now replace with what?

I have cataract surgery with Vivity implants scheduled and, after reading this forum, I am considering cancelling. I have 20/40 in the non dominant eye and 20/20 in the dominant eye. I definitely noticed blurring and lack of clarity and a decrease in night vision. Both eyes have cataracts. However, I am fearful of the dry eye and diminished vision side effects so many of you seem to be experiencing. As noted by one member, happy lens recipients may not be contributing to this forum. my question is: How bad was your vision to have you seek surgical solutions?

Ellen, most people wait until they can't get good enough vision with corrective lenses or the prescription keeps changing so often that it makes no sense to keep getting new eyeglasses every few months. Cataracts can change the prescription fairly rapidly at some point.

Yes I'm sure there is a VERY strong negative bias online. So take that into account. That said if you can wait (and with one eye still at 20/20 I'd say you can wait) then wait. The technology keeps improving every year. And the pace of innovation now seems very fast.

Hi for me I had 20/60 vision right eye and 20/50 in the other. Could no linger read lic plate of car in front of me. Big road signs too and forget about street signs.

I would not be able to pass a vision test - even with glasses could only read big E on top of eye chart.

My cataracts progressed rapidly and for some if is slow. I was told to get the surgery if vision could not correct to at least 20/40

Thank you for your honest response. Did you have Vivity lenses inserted?

My doctor won't give me a new prescription for glasses because he says they won't help with clarity.

I am getting leery of the surgery and rethinking it - not a good mindset for an operation.

For sure if your issue is the cloudy vision caused by cataracts then a new prescription will not help for that. New eyeglass prescriptions will only help with the refractive error that cataracts usually have.

i had my surgeries late summer 2017 so Vivity weren't an option at that time. I had Symfony IOLs inserted (both eyes).

seems your vision cannot be corrected better than it is. I didn't know of any cataract surgeons so I asked my optometrist for her recommendations. Perhaps seeking out some good options and making appointments to a few would be beneficial. Compile your questions to take with you.

Hope all goes well and you find a good surgeon.
