Just noticed this circle on penis.

I noticed a strange circle on the bottom side of my penis the other day, but I don't know how long is has been there for as I would only see it if I looked at it in the mirror.

I have been a little worried. It is a light colored circle, with a ring around it. I had protected sex 9 days before I noticed it. However, oral sex was UNprotected.

I went to a urologist, and he gave me 2 creams. CUTIVATE and DAKTACORT. But he didn't know what it was. He said it could be anything, including syphilis.

I will take a blood test next week, but maybe some help from you would be appreciated. image

Also need to mention. It is painless and have not felt itchy. I don't know how long I have had it for. I have not had sex for 8 month prior to the last time as mentioned above. No unusual discharge or anything unusual.

      Hey Buddy

Sorry your having a problem. I did a quick look up and you can't find anything that looks like that on the internet. It have to be some type of fungus. Use the cream that the doctor gave you and have the blood test to make sure.

Don't worry until you have to. Ken

Work together with the Urologist until you have got to the bottom of what this actually is.

So, you need to use the medication you have been given the way that you have been directed to use it, and for the number of days stated. Make sure it is fully rubbed in to the infected area using gentle finger motions.

What you also need to be careful about is that if you are washing your penis regularly, make sure that you are completely dry in this area, if you are uncircumcised you need to pay attention to the foreskin as well, as, if any trace of dampness exists in this area it can further aggravate it. You need to pat it dry with a clean towel .....

    Dear qashaq,

I know this post is > 10 months ago.

You have a mild form of circinate balanitis. There is a good description of it on Wikipedia, so I suggest you read it.

It is often (but not always) associated with reactive arthritis, which is a form of arthritis affecting the large joints of the lower limb (knees, ankles) in association with chlamydia, a sexually transmitted infection. So it's a good idea to get a full screen for STDs, including chlamydia.

Occasionally, circinate balanitis just appears in isolation and no cause can be found.

Treatment is usually with Daktacort- what your doctor prescribed; and this usually does the trick. But get screened for STDs; that's important.

    Rgds,

    Adhari.
