Just started 3rd period this month!

This month, I’ve had two heavy periods lasting about 10 days each. I had a two day respite and am bleeding again today. I’m 48, never had children and my periods have been normal until perimenopause, where I’ve occasionally had 2 periods in a month but not often. I know to expect lots of changes, especially irregular periods but is 3 periods a month anything to worry about?
Thanks for any advice.

I had similar a couple of months back. Had been eating mostly vegan/ veggie, then went back to omnivorous, and cycle seems to have straightened itself out. My aunt said a number of years ago that a bit of meat is necessary for regulation of the menstrual cycle and possibly that's true - my mother was anorexic/ veggie for decades and had cycles ranging from 2 to 6 weeks - and now she has bone troubles and cancer. As my grandmother used to say "always the golden middle way".

Last August, I began heavy and constant bleeding and clotting. First I had a 7 day period, then 7 days off, followed by 30 a day period! At this point my doctor ordered an ultrasound, and after 7 days, I had another 30 day period! I was passing 40-50 clots some days and couldn’t leave the house. Ended up in the ER for a blood transfusion. That Ultrasound showed a 20 mm endometrial lining which is why I was bleeding so much. I was so anxious and crying all the time. I couldn’t sleep.
In November I saw a gyn who did a biopsy suspecting endometrial hyperplasia and put me on daily progesterone. Biopsy was normal (gyn was surprised)and a further 2 USs showed a normal lining. Once I was given progesterone the bleeding stopped.
My gyn suggested 3 things: an ablation, mini pill (daily progesterone) or do nothing with meds for heavy bleeding. I am on the mini pill and I have had no bleeding or spotting since February. My mother went through the same thing but she had a hysterectomy.
Sorry for the long post...but I don’t think it is irregular and it is so scary. It is hard not to worry. You may want to have an ultrasound to check your endometrial lining if bleeding continues. Blood work may show low iron/anemia so take an iron supplement.
Hugs.

Hi Sony, you are probably needing progesterone. My doctor also had suggested ablation, IUD, or mini pill after I was having a three week long nonstop period, but I nixed all of those for now and have been using an OTC natural progesterone cream which has so far corrected all those long periods and in-between spotting for me. You might want to give it a whirl to see if it helps you too. For me, it seemed like the least invasive way to help, I can control how much I use, (I stop using it when I get a period), and it's pretty inexpensive.

No period for me since May but I did have three periods in May. Each one was fairly short 3-5 days. I keep getting a dull ache on my left side, a bit like period pains but I haven’t had anything since May. I’m going on holiday in a week and I’m desperate to get a period before I go, mainly because I can’t bear the thought of bleeding my entire two week holiday 😩
