Just started Sertraline and feel horrible.

Doctor put me on Sertraline 2 days ago for sever panick and anxiety.

50mg for 8 days then I bump up to 100mg.

Here's my issues though, since starting it I haven't had much of an appetite, I get chills randomly, and I get nauseous often.

How long do these side effects last?

    Josh,

    I too was having the exact symptoms as you and it included terrible bowel iissues.  I have chosen to switch to Lexapro.  Only consulting your doctor can help you either ride through the side effects or try something different.  Sue

    My doctor perscribed me the starting dose of 25mg so I can't understand why they'd begin you at 50mg considering the side effects personally, I am yet to pluck the courage to take them (health anxiety related) anyway my experience on citalopram was feeling sick, loss of appetite, couldnt sleep, hot and cold, sickly feeling but they past after 3 weeks and I start to feel much better, I would suggest consulting your doctor, sometimes they can perscribe anti sickness meds to help through the side effects or see if you can try a lower dose or something else.

    This is normal for the first few weeks but it differs for each person, hope this helps.

    I'll be starting sertraline myself for severe anxiety and panic disorder

    Hi Josh I was like you was started on 50 mg and I really thought it was getting me nowhere on my 3rd day on 100 mg and I feel good so try and ride it out I'm even sleeping better

    Thanks everyone. It's good to hear others are having these issues.

    I need the meds to even out my sever onset panick attacks I've developed in the last week, but these side effects are kicking my butt.

    So here's another update.

    All side effects are gone and I feel great on day 9, however my ability to have an orgasm has become very hard.

    Now granted my sex drive is there and though the last few porn star quality romps with my wife have been entertaining it would be nice for me to be able to finish.

    Is there any way to combat this?
