I have had some traumatic events happen in the last few months. I lost my daughter who was born stillborn and it completely put me over to the point of the worst depression and anxiety of my life. I have been on zoloft for over 3 years. During this time I have stayed on the 100mg dose. Now that Im going through the worst depression of my life my doctor has told me to start upping the dose of my zoloft. Im only on day 3 but I feel absoultly horrible. Everything has gotten worse. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how long should I expect the increased anxiety and depression to last?

Angela, I'm so very sorry you have lost your child. You are both grieving and suffering reactive depression, both perfectly normal responses to your loss. I lost my only brother last year, and it hit me hard. If you've just increased your dose you are suffering side effects which should go in a few weeks. Do please phone your GP and ask for a referral for counselling. You need to talk this out, and best friends/family aren't always the best to talk to cos you hold back over some things. Good luck and hugs

Hi Angela. I'm so sorry you are suffering. When you start or increase the dosage of anti depressants there's always a horrible first couple of weeks. Not sure why it makes us feel worse before we feel better. You can try to get some meds like diazepam from your GP to supplement the first few weeks. Good luck

Hi Angela , my name is calab I'm a 38 yr old male in new zealand.
Firstly I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, loosing a child is not easy so my roughs are with u,
I came across ur post because I'm going through a stressful time as well and am about to increase from 100 to 125 mg as well.
I remember going on sertraline at first and the terrible anxiety increases, they were almost unbearable but one day the light just came on and I stopped feeling horrible,
Please hang in there because soon it will pass and will kick in again, be strong and remember the end goal and result.
I know it's good to talk to people in the same situation so please feel free to contact me if u need to talk or need support, knowing other people that understand what ur going through really helps
Best wishes
