Just want to feel like me again - anyone else’s symptoms keep coming back ??

I’m 49 and struggling badly again at the moment. I just didn't realise that these symptoms would appear, disappear and reappear. So here I am again feeling dreadful and suffering with an assortment of horrendous symptoms; raging anxiety, terrible air hunger, feelings of doom, nausea, upset tummy, woozy, faint feeling, jelly legs, hot flashes, chills, waking a lot at night, exhaustion, lacking energy and loss of appetite etc..

I’m on HRT already and antidepressants and I’ve had blood tests and an ECG as I’ve had palpitations - all normal. CBT helped me as does acupuncture. But this resurgence in my symptoms is hard to deal with.

I just hope to find that I’m not alone.

It is grim isn't it. I do find comfort in knowing I am not alone but just wish it was better for all of us.

I understand completely. It is miserable. Knowing I am not alone helps me feel less alone and fearful. Here's to getting through this phase and finding ourselves again soon.

      i Hilary

i cant believe how losing some hormones can cause so many horrendous symptoms and for so long, although your on HRT so i thought they would of replaced the loss of hormones.

what do you mean by air hunger. I feel like my sugar level has dropped so low i get the shakes. Feel i need to eat something yet im not hungry.

i started peri at your age in 2011 then into menopause in 2015, it been such a long time ago since my feeling normal life , id just love a couple of days off from feeling ill. the last time i went to my GP she told me she didn't know why i was feeling the way i do and as id been in several times before with the same symptoms they've not done me any harm so get on with it. DONE ME ANY HARM ?? she was as cold as a fish and didn't want to know.

ive thought about acupuncture do you really think it will help .

sending you a comforting hug x

HRT has helped me hugely but it needs adjustment sometimes as hormones change and fluctuate.

Air hunger is this odd feeling like you can't get a deep breath in your lungs. It is definitely made worse by anxiety.

I also get the wobbles and shaky feelings in my arms and legs as well as tingling.

It's a shame your GP isn't supportive; mine is really great and very understanding. And I have found acupuncture very helpful but like all things, it may not be for everyone.

Sending positivity and hope to you too.
