HELLO

i WAS WONDERING WHETHER ANYONE AS HAD THESE SYMPTOMS:-

EVERY NOW AND THEN I GET A KALEIDOSCOPE EFFECTS IN MY EYES.  MY DOCTOR ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS SOME EFFECTS DUE TO MIGRAINES, BUT AS I DO NOT GET MIGRAINES, IT CAN'T BE THAT.

I HAVE HAD MY EYES CHECKED, NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN FOUND.

I ALWAYS GET IT IN BOTH EYES, SOMETIMES IT IS JUST NOTICEABLE, OTHER TIMES, IT CAN EFFECT MY VISION TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT I CAN NOT SEE WHATS IN FRONT OF ME, ONLY THE KALEIDOSCOPE EFFECT. MY SIDE VISION IS NOT EFFECTED.

IT GOES ON FOR BETWEEN 5MINS AND CAN LAST UP TO AN HOUR.

I HAVE NO PAIN WHATS SO EVER WITH THIS.

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS AND CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IT IS.

MANY THANKS

KEV  (UK)  rolleyes

You are welcomeI know when i first got them I was so freaked out.Would usually last about a half hour,id lay down and close my eyes and then usually would be back to normal.I had a girlfriend that also had them now and then so pretty much figured thats what it was from her.I hope you googled it to see if it fits your symptoms.I havnt had one now for about 2 years. If it continues to bother you, just confirm it with your doctor as i am no doctor. The eyes can come up with so many strange symptoms usually harmless but unnerveing. Merry Christmas to you also.

Yes. It's one of the many possible phases of a migraine. Your doctor is right.

A full migraine cycle could start with your kaleidoscope and lead to headache and nausea. But not necessarily.

I get what you get. It's a kind of vibrating wheel of broken imagery that dances in from the left and lasts about five minutes. I liken it to an animated Picasso.

I used to have it followed by the piercing headache but I don't any more. I do still get tiny prick of a very light headache that's almost indiscernable.

They can come on from a stressful situation or just a very quick, sudden release of energy.

Don't worry. It's absolutely harmless. Enjoy it!

I have never heard of silent migraines either. Just wondering how long have you been having the kaleidoscope effects? Do they seem to be getting worse or lasting longer?

      Hi Carol

I have had them on and off for years. They have got worse by there duration only.

Thanks for you interest, it is most appreciated.

Hope you have had a great Christmas Day.

      All the best
