Pre op next week and due to have op early November. No golf for three months then? I have always played sports and I think squash did the damage.

    Hi  Tony,

welcome to our Hippies family -

well, I am not a golfer and can't reaaly answer your question .. it was a question, right?

3 months sounds right but it really depends on how you are healing -

I am sure that there are many golfers out here who will be delighted to share their experience -

    Big hug for now

Yes, it was an opening question, just to introduce myself. It does sound daunting to be housebound for six weeks especially as I am so active usually.

    hi Tony

I played squash for over 25 years club level and been playing golf now for 8 years, I had 2 hip replacements one in may this year and one 2 weeks ago.

I stopped playing golf April but hope to be playing January. I was told by my surgeon 12 weeks after surgery to start playing. but as I needed 2ndhip decided to wait until both finished. I have many golfing friends who play successfully after 3 months and playing better than before as now no pain, hoping to be playing again January over in Spain. good luck. maggie

Hi everyone. I was a gymnast and ice skater. I had many many many falls on hips...butts...knees etc. I said to my surgeon a head physio at tge hospital that it was probably those falls th a t caused my osteoarthritis.Answer in a nutshell was....no. nothing you "do " causes it.

    Hi Tony,

ive been an avid golfer for years and active in all sports forever. New hip will  be three weeks this Tuesday. I feel strong enough to chip and put for an hour  but have to be careful not to be too aggressive as the leg will swell. You should be fine in the spring.

That sounds very good. I suppose a lot will depend on the level of fitness before the op too. Luckily I am very active, it is just the pain that goes with it.
