hi

for the past few months i have been making dentist appointments as i keep thinking something different is wrong with my teeth and they are going to fall out or become crooked.

Every time i have been i have been re assured my teeth are fine but then a few days later im constantly looking in the mirror at my teeth thinking ive found something else to worry about.

i dont know what to do. Do i need to speak to a gp about my anxiety? does this happen to anyone else or am i on my own?

please help me

    Hey!

I've had something that sounds slightly similar, but not exactly, so I'll share it and let you know that you are not alone - I've had really bad anxiety for the past 6 months! I felt like my teeth were going to fall out too, I even started avoiding certain foods that I thought would make them come out (e.g. corn on the cob, anything with a crunch!). I even stopped using my electric toothbrush and opted for manual! It was so deep into my subconscious that I was even dreaming about them coming out!

Another thing I felt was that it was like they were moving or shifting? Which only made my concerns about my teeth even more believable! After that, my jaw kind of locked up? I spoke with an ENT specialist who said my troubles were being caused by TMD. Once he reassured me, and advised the best way to treat it, it went away within two weeks or so, but I do still get days where I obsess over them.

So, I'd say maybe speaking to a GP for some reassurance is a good shout! 😃
