Hi everyone I wanted to know if any one has heard of this or if any one has actually participated in this kind of treatment..?

My Psychiatrist talked with me about it this week and I just dont really know what I think due to the fact that I have never heard of it.. and I used to be a police officer so I only know how awful it is and is abused under the street name Special K.

Any information or advise would help.

Thank you .

Newest breakthrough in antidepressant medication seems to be the working of Ketamine. Some studies say It lifts depression quite quickly but only for maybe up to a week. Thats all I know about it. As for abuse and addiction I imagine you would be watched carefully using the drug.

Ketamine has been trialled for treatment-resistant depression over the last 15 years and has around a 70% response rate in this difficult to treat group. Most of the trials have used intravenous ketamine but it has been shown to be effective given through a variety of routes including oral and sublingual. There are many  articles available online, a good summary can also bre found in the recently released book - "Ketamine for Depression."

Hi I have never heard of this but have read what the others have said.   If it is licienced for medical use then it would not be in the same format you saw as a police officer.  It will have been adjusted to make it a lot safer.  So I think you can set your mind at rest there.   Let us know if you take it and it works!  x
