Ketoconazole worked for my BV

Hi ladies! I'm curious if any of you have tried Ketoconazole (an anti-fungal). I had both BV and a yeast infection, but when my nurse practitioner put me on Ketoconazole to fight the yeast, my BV (which I had had for 2 years) went away and hasn't been back. Here's the name of my YouTube video about my experience fighting yeast and BV - Ongoing BV and Yeast Infections No More. Anyway, please let me know if you try this anti-fungal or have tried it (warning: it's hard on the liver) and if it works for you. I'd be curious to know if it actually works for all BV cases or if I was just lucky. Thanks!

Is it the same as fluconazole?? I've been prescribed fluconazole twice since I've had BV for the last 10 months. It definitely helped but did not cure.

      Hi Abby,

It is the same in that it fights fungus, but Ketoconazole is supposed to be hard on the liver. Were you on Fluconazole for a prolonged period (one tablet a day for a month or longer)? I was on Ketoconazole for 2.5 months (1 pill every day for 2 months, one every other day for half a month). I think if it's going to work, you need to be on it for a long period, not just a day or two. I didn't experience any BV while I was taking it, so it definitely had an effect early on.
