My Mom is saying it's Just Acidity as i don't eat on time and I had a sudden constipation from many days(I don't know why). So should i go and see to the doctor or it'll go away. You should see a doctor anyway, i had infections from being a toddler resulting in my kidney being removed this year (22 years of chronic infection, inflammation and calcification) and in that time I was admitted 3 times because I had infections in my kidneys with no symptoms. By the time I became ill enough to notice id developed septacemia and infections in my liver and heart and was severely poorly.

I also suffer bouts of constipation which are unexplained even now but i believe there is some connection with the kidneys as it is all the human waste system and if one part is under stress it may all be.

Depending on the type of pain youre having it could be either stones or infection. Stones is a very sharp pain, i often passed out if I was passing a stone its that painful! Infection other hand is uncomfortable flank pain and abdominal ache.

Even if its nothing go get checked out for peace of mind.

    hope this helps!

Hi Jess, Did you get admitted to hospital for kidney infection with no symptoms due to urine sample showing infection. l,ve had bladder probs for a long time, many years with symptoms and ill health which finally a scope showed to be intersticial cystitus, put on cimetidine amitrip, l,d had a bout of pyleonephritus in this time, put on month of anti bs one a wk, 2 pessaries nightly, discharged masses of yellow crystalised matter and thrush, but all settled down. Kidney scan had shown one of kidney,s small, 2 ureters from it, right one,  also small cyst on left  Recently bladder probs aggrevated, typical bacterial infection symptoms, frequency, pain in passing small amounts, cloudy sample, low plevic pain,, initially put on 8 days trimathopring 2 100 mg daily, infection lingered, then sample result led to 7days kefalex 500mg, typical symptoms have settled, but in this time getting more occassional bouts of pain in kidney area and higher in back. But lve been having chronic nausea fatigue for a long time, get chilled easy and flushed at same time, some nights wake with wet hair. l dont know whats going on, and not getting answers from urologist or gastro enterologist. Put on omprazole which doesnt seem to help.

Do my symptoms sound like a kidney problem to you, wonder why they didnt tell you about calcification, and you,d to get to stage of having sceptaceami, l know how bad that is as my husband had it years ago, very ill with it.  At present had recent scan, confirming small kidney, cyst, 2 ureters, still to hear from urologist about it. Hope you can advice,

      Hi lynne

I was classed as a weird case because i was in my doctors weekly for years with back pain, fevers, kidney stone pain, cloudy urine, all the typical symptoms but my urine tested negative most the time which ive now been told can happen if the kidney holds the bacteria in a particular area which does not contaminate the urine. And then like i said i had episodes of no symptoms when i was infact very very poorly. My diagnosis was made once my kidney was removed and they said i had so much damage they predict i began with infections as a baby, my kidney was shrunken and scarred with disease and infection, there was nothing filtering through it anymore and it had (despite them never finding anything in scans) calcified so much it was essentially one big stone. Im no expert but i would say they need to look more at your kidneys. Like i said i was at my doctors all the time telling them i was poorly and i was told repeatedly it was IBS and this that and the other. You know in yourself when youre not right and you sound a lot like i was with sweating and fevers and hot and cold sweats which is typical in infection. I persisted until I was referred to a specialist that took one look at my kidney and put my forward for it removing. It only takes one person that knows what theyre looking at!

Sorry for the long reply but i hope it helps

Hi jess,  Thanks for info and advice, seems odd to have to come on to mbs to get advice when your seeing docs, but it was the same for me with intersticial cystitus symptoms over many years, pain and ill health in and out of docs, samples, tests, scans, first put down to gyny, then hormone, phycalogical, just took a urologist and scope 5min to diagnose and as lm sure you,ll have felt  resentment for all the time of poor health and pain, just due to lack of referral to right specialist, l think its only finally feeling well that helps you move forward. l know the ic is aggrevated its just with having a bad infection and long course of anti bs, along with higher back side pain, made me wonder about kidney probs,l think we can get what they call low grade infection, and chemist told me about deep seated infection, talk about having to fish to get info,  then seeing your post about how you,d gone on undiagnosed till becoming very ill,and having calcification,  not a place anyone wants to go to. l wasnt even sure if urologists were renal specialists, or different ologists.  Dont think your reply as long as my question, and l,m glad to get any info, as l just feel last 2yrs, more so 6months, there is something very wrong, its not just physical, but phycalogical affect, all different to before.   Will pursue it with gp and urologists, thanks again, hope your health continues to improve.

ps When l went for scan to check stomach for nausea probs, they use a dye and radiologist told me my kidney is 4 times slower passing stuff through, so debate about putting dye through, had to drink 2 trs water before and after scan. Docs didnt mention it, till l asked them about it.

In one way its terrible to have serious problem as young as you are, but on plus side your strong in coping with such as sceptaceamia and the removal. A bigger plus is many live healthy lives with one kidney, think the very old lively bruce forsyth as had one kidney many years, as with most. Sorry for my even longer reply, again thanks

      Hi lynne

I fully understand the psychological problems that come along with it, after so long undiagnosed you begin to feel mental like its all in your head but you must carry on listening to your body. Had i not persisted i may not be here as my kidney was very close to losing function and i was unresponsive to all useful antibiotics as id had too many, not sure where id be had i not been put through for urgent surgery.

At 22 years old though im lucky to be strong enough to get over it, not sure the same could be said for an older person if they werent treated quick enough. Keep at em and dont take no for an answer!

lve certainly had plenty of anti bs, and last infection did take longer to clear. l agree the older you are the harder it is to deal with something like sceptaceami, kidney removal.  l had lastest scan wed, so now see gp monday and urologist after that, l will push it all the way, even if contacting trust and mp, had enough, been there before with ic, not going down that road again, and you know what its like to go on till bands end, seriously ill,  it shouldnt have to get to that, though often does for many. Thanks again for reaffirming what l suspected, good wishes for your future continued improvement
