Kidney Infection

Hi  Please can anyone help I am getting worried? Two weeks ago I saw my Dr as I had constant pain in my side.Test show it was a kidney infection. Had 5 days of antibiotics and was told if the pain gets worse to call back. After 2 days the pain worsened to lower back, abdominal and genital pain, similar to extremely bad period pain.

Finished antibiotics went back to Dr regarding the pain, he tested my urine but said it showed no infection, but this could be because I had been taking antibiotics. Over the next week the pain stayed the same, painkillers only numbed it. Another Dr ordered blood tests all came back ok but again I had been on antibiotics. Started more antibiotics currently still taking them. Yesterday the lower abdominal pain seemed better, but I had stabbing intermittent pain in my kidney. This morning the kidney pain is less but the abdominal pain is back. I can't even walk more than 200 yards!  I have never had a kidney infection before. Is this normal pain when recovering from a kidney infection? It is starting to worry me now, as I have not been able to get out. I have a scan tomorrow which will hopefully show all is ok.

    Hi Karen

It could be a kidney stone so good news you have a scan tomorrow this is requested when there are symptoms for kidney stones not usually done for kidney infection.

    Good luck for tomorrow!

    Hi Karen

I have had the same kidney infection for two years and lots of antibiotics and my GP was getting a bit worried.si one day I went to see a older women GP who speciality is gynecology. She put me in a tablet called Hiprex which has stopped the infections. I have a urostomy but maybe Hiprex could help you

    Hey Karen

I know you posted this 4months ago but I'm right now experiencing everything you mentioned in your post...been on antibiotics but the pain is still there! I'm scared!

Are you anywhere near better now?

      Hi

It took 8 weeks of different antibiotics to finally clear the pain. I was left with pains in my mid left side which I still have. I have had all sorts of scans and tests which thankfully show nothing is wrong, I never had any pain until I had the original infection. Dr now sending me to a gastrologist. Let me know how you get on.
