Kidney infection and sudden confusion

Hi

My mum was taken into hospital last week with kidney stones. They gave her gas and air and morphine and when she was scanned they discovered a bad kidney infection. She started to lose blood so they did an emergency kidney stent. She has been in a lot of pain and has been given morphine. For the past 4 days she's been very confused. She has never had any issues like this before and at 75, just a few days before she was running around doing loads of things. I'm a bit concerned now and I spoke to the nurse on her unit who said it could be a water infection or it could be the drugs. It's difficult for my mum though. She doesn't know what time/day it is, she's repeating herself and told me she's seeing strange faces and people in her room,

Anyone heard of anything like this before with a kidney infection?
