Hi ,
I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and was given cipro, 2 days later my pain got worse and was prescribed macrodantin by the doctor . I'm kinda freaking out now as everywhere online says macrodantin cannot be used for a kidney infection . Is this true ?

I've talked to 3 different doctors now and they all say it's one of the best for kidneys . I got my urine checked last night and it is clearing up, but my symptoms aren't clearing at all .

Is it a food sign medication is working If you're urine is clearing up? But symptoms still remain , less burning though. Just back pain and cramps left

Yes - it's a good sign that the antibiotic is probably working. Doesn't mean it's finished the job, though. Best to continue to finish taking all the doses that have been prescribed to fully clear the infection. In my experience, even then, the Infection can return.

don't forget to drink plenty and I do mean plenty of good clean water........ I think D manose is
cranbery dirrivative and it does me OK but I do not think it has any good effect on an embedded
infection......
I saw an excellent 'paper' by an eminent urologist (USA) who stated that some individuals have a resistant system that encapsulates the infective organisms. He also said that in certain instances the infection can be 'walled off' which makes treating with certain antibiotics difficult as the antibiotic does not penetrate the cells sufficiently to kill all the infection off.
So if the clinician is not aware of the above is it any wonder short course are given that do not completely eradicate the infection........ The words that come to mind is HIT AND MISS!

Generally, if the right antibiotic is used for a UTI, the symptoms will be gone in 3 days or less. I stand by my earlier statment that your doctors are wrong (all 3 of them) about giving you Macrodantin for a kidney infection. I'll be interested in how this plays out. I hope for your sake that you this antibiotic cures you.
