kidney inflammation in children

My daughter was taken to hospital with blood in her urine. We later found out that she has acute glomerulonethritis. Her creatinine levels have been as high as 215. She has been sent home after steroid treatment. She is on cyclophosphamide and I’m worried about her ammune system and her going back to school. Has anyone else experienced this. She is 11 years old x

Rubygem, your GP is probably the best person to advise you about any extra precautions your daughter should take whilst on Cyclophosphamide, for instance, the flu vaccine if she hasn't already had it.  Arthritis Research UK have a booklet on Cyclophosphamide which might also help you.  They may also have Help Line.    Unfortunatetely, I can't quote their email address or phone number here or my reply will be held up for moderating, so perhaps you could look up the necessary details on the web.  All very worrying for you as a Mum, I'm sure but, I believe glomerulonephritis is curable in children in particular, so I do hope your daughter soon makes a complete recovery.
