Kidney pain

I'm 25 years old and been suffering kidney pain for as long as I can remember, I've just found out that my right kidney is smaller than my left and has alot of scarring, my egfr is 82 and I was sent for a renal dmsa scan but still haven't received the results although left kidney lit up like a light bulb and the right was pretty much black all over. Im really scared :'(

Try not to worry too much...

Hopefully your right kidney is working at full capacity and is more than capable of doing the job of two.

I am 11 weeks post op after having my right kidney removed as it was totally non functioning and causing infections. It appears that it had not been working for some time.

Discuss all your options with your consultant and write any questions out that you want to ask him/her before you go.

Understanding exactly what is happening inside your body is the best way to avoid over stressing yourself and making you upset and ill.

    All the best

Hi, my right kidney is non functioning and left has poor function. Both have scarring all over, my egfr is 24.

Dont "google" too much about it as it may give incorrect information for what u need.

Carry a note pad around with you so if u think of a question, u can jot it down coz i always used to get to my appointments and think 'what was it i wanted to ask the other day'.

Dont be scared coz for now tour egfr is good, obv im no doctor so dont have the answers but it sounds ok.

Get all your info first. Hope all goes well for u x
