Kidney pain- can anyone help or give advice?

Hello, I'm a 17 year old girl with kidney pain in both sides but mainly my right kidney. I constantly have a dull/achy pain more so in the right kidney area, it often changes to a severe sharp pain which makes me unable to continue with even just daily activities and I find myself not even being able to get up whilst the pain is this bad. Sometimes when going to the toilet, it will be frequently other times, it will be hardly at all, yet on either of these, it feels as though I need to go again seconds after but I can't always actually pass urine at all. My stomach is feeling bloated and tight and my legs feel very achy a lot of the time. I constantly feel drained and tired, am either extremely hot or shivering cold and I have been very breathless which is unusual. I feel sick morealess everyday especially when the pain increases and my skin has become very itchy and dry. I have been to see my GP, who forwarded me for a Kidney scan as a urine sample showed slight Kidney infection and possible kidney stones. I was given antibiotics for the Kidney Infection and they worked; I then had the scan, but there were no stones visible at all yet I'm still having this pain and it seems to be increasing. I then went back to my GP and had yet another urine sample, which then showed blood in my urine, I was given antibiotics for this but this made no difference once again. About 2 weeks later, I was still suffering with pain with it only increasing rather than settling down, so I revisited my GP in which I had to have another urine sample, which once again showed blood in my urine. Due to the constant pain and the symptoms I am having, she has now forwarded me to a Kidney specialist and I am still waiting for my appointment to come through.

Just to add, at the age of 5, I had Henoch Schonlein Purpura and was told you are still able to realpse up to 10-15 years after and my brother also has a kidney problem too- it has a gene in our family. Could this be a relapse or some form of underlying kidney problem? If anyone has had similar symptoms or anything, please could you reply and either give me advice, help or just let me know of what other GPs or Kidney Specialists have said to you? Thank you (:

i was diagnosed with kidney disease which does not show up on scans, blood tests or urine samples. i like you get a sharp pain in my kidneys and have blood in my urnie but the only way i found out i had the chronic disease was by me becoming vey very ill with black urine and then they finally disided to do a Biopsy on my kidneys which found 25% affected. so unless your gp or consalant believe it would be a good idea you could never know. i only found out from a biopsy only bacuase i became ill at the begining my GP said it was an infection and just sent me on my way they did scans everthing nothing worked. so i would suggets asking about a biopsy if it continues i went for year without knowing.

I'm currently waiting for a few scans and they did mention something about a biopsy so hopefully something will show up! Overall, I've had this for nearly a year so hope to find out what's going on soon. Are you on medication or anything for it now? Thanks for the info and advice by the way smile

Its fine, i was on 16 steroids a day for a year for theĀ scarring and inflammation to stop it getting worse And and blood pressure tablets as well. But after that year was up i was put on a double dose of blood pressure tablets but had to have a different type as suffered side effects but no steroids after the first year.
