kidney pains for over a year and a half

Hi, so I have been dealing with kidney problems for the past year and a half now. Started of just the odd pain in my left kidney that would come and go (sometimes weeks or even months apart!) As time went on the pains came along closer and closer together and stuck around for longer and longer. I now get pains on a daily basis in both kidneys which are sometimes just aches and other times really severe. Sometimes the pain only lasts up to half an hour and other times can last all day. Strangely mine sometimes comes along with a bumpy rash that itches beyond belief, leaving me cut and occassionally bruised! The rash comes up on all different parts of the body (hips, back, arms, legs, head, chest are common) sometimes in just one place, and others I'm covered! Sometimes i get a swollen lip and/or face however this doesnt happen nowhere near as often. No amount of antihistamines or creams seem to help, i am currently on 4 a day! What is weird is I have never been allergic to anything previous to this and yet I react to something in some way basically every day now. I have had countless appointments with my GP and an allergens consultant as well as urine tests, blood tests for everything you can imagine, scans and all the medication.. and yet nothing ever brings back results..

What worries me the most is that I'm only 20 years old and yet I am constantly tired, my sleeping/eaten patterns are non existent (I'm either sleeping 12 hours straight and nodding off after work or up all night! & either eating loads or the thought of food makes me feel sick!) This has developed so much over the past 18 months and had a massive impact on my life and yet I am no closer to a diagnosis. How much worse is it going to get before I know what is causing it/what I can do to make it better. If anybody has any suggestions or similar problems I would really appreciate it. Thanks smile

Hi, sorry to hear your having such problems.

I have pain similar to yours, started off now and again then it became more often and more secere. I now have continuous pain and am unable to releive it.

I find that i itch a lot too but when i am going to have a really bad pain day i get an extremely sensetive patch of skin,it could be anywhere on my body but is so sore even clothes touching it feels like something scolding me.

Sorry to go on. Anyway, i have been suggested large watercress leaves, (usually in salad bags) for itching and skin problems aswell as sulphur tablets. Chrck with doc on thise levels in ur blood first though.

I havent tried them yet but you never know, may be worth a try for you too.

    Good luck.

      Hiya, thanks for the reply.

How long have you been dealing with the pains? I tend to have pains on and off every day but get the itching regardless. Sometimes just in one area but more often than not it's all over. Thought it was an allergy at first but allergy clinic signed me off after all tests, food diary etc showed no routine or pattern and so they say the cause is not external. Which is what makes me think it's linked with the kidney pains (internal!) Not to mention I never had any reactions previous to getting these pains.

I will definitely give it a go, and will see what my GP says about sulphur tablets.

Thank you for the suggestions, I am willing to try anything!

Hope you find some answers soon!

      Regards
