Kidney Removal / Stent

Hi everyone, im Rob, 42 Years Old

I had a kidney removed at the age of 3 (due to it being completely dead) and have various kidney problems since.

I sort of had it under control with permanent antibiotics to prevent infections however 3 years ago my GRF suddenly dropped.

I suffered gout as a side effect and the doctors quickly discovered that i had a blockage between bladder and kidney.

Over the last 5 years i have had several stents however the time between them coming out and symptoms coming back has reduced so i think i will have to be re-stented continually.

They cannot see the blockage on camera and the stent is inserted without a problem, they suspect that they may need to re-site the ureter but are reluctuant to because of causing further issues with the kidney.

My GFR has ranged from 42 down to 18, it is currently at 29.

Over the last few months i have noticed feeling "not with it" almost "a drunk" feeling.  My head at times seems to be cloudy, its hard to explain.  I guess this is part of the kidney issue.  Is anyone else in the same situation?

Bladder infections can leave you feeling "not with it", so do get a sample of urine checked just to rule out any infection.

To be honest i get infections quite regular so i take in samples at least once a month, im having stent replaced on Friday (11th) so im hoping that goes well :-)

Hopefully the stent replacement will remove your "not with it" feeling, and you will feel much better.  Lots of good luck wishes.
