Kidneys function.

My Kidneys GFR function has been in a range from 49 to 62 for the last 12 years, not going in any particular direction. I am 74. 190cm in excellent health with no medical conditions, except take 20,mg Lipitor for cholesterol for the last 20 years. Have had ultrasounds, all normal, should I see a Kidney Specialist.

I was surprised to find I seemed to have kidney failure stage 3 when they refused to go ahead with my hip replacement. I had travelled 1300 miles and rented a condo for the hip job, so I was in trouble every which way. Their screening doctor said there was a chance he could get me ok kidney numbers in two weeks, maybe.

He withdrew my BP and statin meds, co diovan and crestor, and even he was impressed. Normal kidney function in 10 days. His replcement meds were no statin, and no diuretic or arb2 . Back home no one ever checked kidney function after prescribing.

    My hip job went ahead.

People react differently . I will now watch out when I take new drugs. Anyone else had bad drug effects like that ?
