Kind of cured!

Hey Guys, Some of you might know me from previous posts.

Basically I’ve suffered from ETD for three months which was caused by a really bad headcold and subsequent flights and finally after alot of depressive episodes and crying its 95% cured.

Personally what really REALLY R E A L L Y helped me is one simple thing: not thinking about it and not doing the valsalva manouver surpsingly! For those of us who have blockage due to mucus the valsalva might make it worse and aggrevate the situation. Therefore i tried not forcibly popping my ears all the day for a week or so and lo and behold it started getting much better.  I was also inhaling watervapour with vicks for 10 minutes a day and gently blowing my nose.

But honestly not taking notice of them and not popping your ears forcibly do help quite a bit. I know its easier said than done but honestly it helped me ALOT. I now only have some cracklig here and there and some pressure for around 15 mins a day which normally clears.

I wish you all speedy recovery and I want to thank you all for the help you have given me!

    HEY Luke!

       So glad  you're doing better.

Just a question did you have a crackling with every swallow?

Your ears pop with every swallow ?  I definitely feel like obsessing makes symptoms worse.

    Thanks -missy

Yes they crackle with every swallow but theyve calmed down now.  I was unlucky enough to get a cold as soon as I posted this though and my ears feel kind of semi- plugged again but hoping thats it only for the duration of the cold.

So happy you're feeling so much better.

I know it's bad to try and keep trying to pop our ears, but that constant clogged

feeling, fullness and loss of hearing is so awful I just have to do it for some

    relief.

Fortunately, since using the Flixonase Nasules since April my ears are so much

    better.

If one suffer sinusitis and allergies the problem is always there...blocked nose too.

I now only need to use these steroid drops approx every 4 days.

Thats great to hear Anne. I would like to ask you a question though unfortunately a day after posting this I got anreally bad headcold and I made sure to blow my nose slowly etc, although I am still not fully recovered from my cold I wanted to ask you if it is normal to feel more stopped up with a cold and if it does subside later on? I hope all my progress doesn’t go down the drain.

    Hi Luke,

Sadly, catching a cold is the worse possible thing for getting ETD.  My grandson has suffered

from clogged ears ever since his cold.  However, because his Eustachian Tubes work properly,

they drained after approx a week, so all clear again.

Do steam inhalations to keep on top of everything.  Fortunately, I'm so lucky, I rarely catch colds...

hope I'm not speaking too soon.  Through the Winter I take a daily high dose of vitamin C and

    eat plenty of fruit too.

Let me know how you go on and really hope all your hard work hasn't been for nothing.

    Regards

    Anne
