Medical devices that are unsafe and have not been adequately tested are ending up inside patients' bodies, an investigation has revealed.

The devices include heart pacemakers, rods to correct spines, and artificial knees and hips.

The investigation found implants that had failed in baboons, or were tested only on pigs and dead bodies, were coming onto the market.

maybe thats mine. why I'm having so much trouble over two years down the line!!

I know of one man who had TKR 10 weeks ago and it went so well he insisted in getting the second knee done 2 weeks ago.

He is in immense pain with the second. Same surgeon.

My husband had his done 3 weeks ago and could walk with out a stick after 6 days (not recommended though).

My cousin had his done 2 weeks ago and is struggling like the rest of us.

    Same surgeon.

We're all so different but it is important to work on a positive mindset.

i used the JAS knee brace in the last 2 months . i used it for 18 days as prescribed. i had no pain while executing the treatment. But i have had an adverse effect. In addition to pain, swelling, lack of flexibility, i may need surgery. The knee prosthetic ( TKR) may have become loose. Bone scan to be done in a few weeks.

    IN other words,proceed w caution

    Sorry - what is that?

I too read about the implants Mary but cant see anything relating to knees, just hips?

You are right, no two people and no two TKRs are the same. My first one two years ago I had no problems. This one, now 8 days post-op is much worse both pain wise and swelling wise.

Doing all the right things, taking the analgesia, icing and doing the exercises.

But still stiff and hard to get moving after rest.
