Hi April 101,
Bangkok-Johnny here! TKR or TKA operations as the doctors say. I've had 5 since 2014. First one in Stockholm, Sweden. I hit the jackpot! INFECTION! Staphylococcus Epidermidis. There after three deep cleanings. Two in Sweden and one here in Thailand, to no avail. "Gold standard" needed here said my Chief orthopedic surgeon at the Lerdsin Government hospital. The Two-Stage Revision was done last year. First removal of the infected implant. Which I kept as a souvenir. Something to put on the table after dinner! In Sep 2018 the new implant was put in place. Now I am OK. I can walk, shorter distances without crutches. "And I drive like the Wind" remember Jack Nicholson in "As Good as it Gets". I am back working as Motoring Editor: CarSanook Media. However, I still experience pains ( low back pain) & stiffness in the mornings. Medication: Paracetamol 300 mg and Tramadol 50 mg when when needed. Physio therapy was important the first four months after operation. When when the scar was dry and healed I started SWIMMING! Now, daily laps and walking backwards ( like Mick Jagger) in the pool. The daily pool exercise helps me to sleep better - and feel better. Regards, Bangkok-Johnny
