Knee advise ?

I’m a 54 yr old female. About a month ago out of the blue my knee/leg started hurting. Maybe slight swelling - if any. Pain is in the back of my knee down my calf and sometimes in the front chin area and sometimes knee cap area. Very painful when I first stand up and walking any distance is impossible without sitting at least once. Pain has woken me up at night several times. I’ve torn the acl in my other leg but I knew it right away, with this one I have no clue how I hurt it, it just seemed to happen.
Any ideas ? Really not wanting to go thru reconstruction surgery again so if it’s the acl what other options are there ?
Thanks

Yup...ortho for an exam and some imaging. Don't try to diagnose this yourself. I tried that once and after the arthroscopy, the doc told me it was something completely different. See a good ortho who specializes in knees...

Before starting things on your own find a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon If you can. As much as I would like to throw out suggestions, I'm afraid they might be the wrong thing and cause you more grief. A competent doc can assess and recommend treatments that would have you get back on your feet in a hurry. Are you in the US or UK. That might make a difference in how and where you can go for help. Just remember some of the basics: rest , ice and elevate. That may get relief but won't get to the root of the problem

So... I went to the Dr and he believes it is a torn meniscus. I'm still thinking acl as well. The pain is BAD ! Walking is very diffulcult and very slow. I work on my feet all day so Monday morning is dreaded all ready. My knee is giving out on me more and more. The pain is mostly in my calf area one spot feel like a knife is being stabbed in it. Today my lower calf area and foot are swollen.
MRI next week, so hopefully some answers.

Don't be misled into thinking meniscus can't be brutally painful and crippling. It can be anything from a strain to a complete tear. Only an MRI will fully disclose th e problem and the treatment.
