Knee and leg pain worried sick it might be soft tissue cancer

Hello

For the last month or so i have been experienced what started off as a slight pain behind my knee that spread to my leg so sometimes i feel the pain in my leg and sometimes in my calves and ankles. my leg doe not feel normal at all it has this sense of stiffness and heaviness and a dull ache throughout. In the night it feels like a leg ache right to my bones. I know it is not injury related as my physical activity is very low. The doctors have spoken to me over the phone twice and said to apply deep heat and wait for it to heal. But i am getting really scared that it could be something a lot more sinister!Ive read diagnosis stories and people that had it had similar feelings. I suffer quite badly with anxiety and more specifically health anxiety and these thoughts of it being cancer are consuming me 😕

does anyone have any experience with this or know what it may be?

It's very unlikely to be cancer. Sometimes we can injure our soft tissues without realising it. It's even easier to do it if your physical activity is low and your supporting muscles are week. I suffered with a pain behind my knees and aching legs for years before the arthritis set in. If you suffer from anxiety though you need to see a doctor and have your leg examined to put your mind at rest. You could also try a topical pain relief ointment to see if that helps and elevating your leg might help with the heaviness.

Thanks a lot for replying lynda. The reason why its scaring me is that its just in my left leg....out of the blue..and travels around my entire leg from time to time and in my hips and left buttock. Ive rang the doctor twice they've only spoken to me over the phone. Ive tried topical ointments and massages but nothing. I will try ice. I just want to know what exactly is may be 😕 . I have suffering from this anxiety...it is honestly so debilitating and takes over my life

It must be very difficult for you. You really should go and see the doctor so they can examine your leg. It could be a nerve. The sciatic nerve can cause pain through the hip, buttock and down the whole leg, but only a medical professional can properly diagnose it. In the meantime, rest, ice and elevate it to see if that helps.

Help...Lynda has given you good advice. Try icing your knee along with the heat and see if this helps.
