Knee arthroscopy both knees and lateral retinacular left knee

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi all,

Just after some advice.

I had an arthroscopy last Thursday and during the operation a lateral retinacular of the left knee as it had become tilted. Operation was a success but after almost a week there has been no improvement whatsoever.

I am able to move around but the pain is immense. I can't bend either knee yet and my right knee today keeps buckling underneath me.

Should I be concerned at the lack of improvement or is this quite common.

I shall be calling my consultant tomorrow to discuss my concerns.

Thanks

Matt

Wow, you were brave, both knees at once. I had an arthroscopy on Monday just one knee and the pain and discomfort has been far more than I imagined. Also my knee feels very unstable. I couldn't possibly manage without crutches. My swelling is huge too. I'll be very surprised if it makes any real improvement over next few days . Good luck.

    Hi Matt

I've only had the one Arthroscopy & afterwards could walk, aided, & do the exercises fairly well. Pain levels nowhere near TKR!

So I think you are absolutely correct to call your consultant.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the replies.

It wasn't actually my decision to have both knees done, the consultant referred me to have them done and knowing what I do now I should have just requested one at a time.

My right knee actually feels dislocated today which I'm really concerned about. My left leg aside from one of the stitches pulling is fine in all fairness.

But I am unable to lift both legs even a millimeter in the air when lying down. I can feel my muscle contract but there's no strength there which is another worrying thing.

      Hi

As mentioned earlier I had mine done on Monday. I can't lift my leg either as you are describing. It's like there is a brain block not allowing me to as well as just not having the strength to do it. I spoke to a physio friend about this last night who said it will come gradually and I was expecting too much too soon. Hopefully your consultant will help and put your mind at rest.

Never had this procedure so don't know if this is normal or not.

Good that you can contact your consultant.

Take care and keep in touch
