Knee braces

My Dr told me don't use braces after but I think I should have. I had my tkr on my left knee 5/11/2017 and it went good. Had my right tkr on 8/28/2017 and a revision on my right knee 12/01/2017 and a second revision on my right knee on 5/04/2018 and now I can't walk unless I use a crutch or a walker depends on the weather.

    There's a twofold answer here:

    1. After the PT ROM work, you need to do the muscle rebuild for all the supporting musculature...

This takes many months as it's a gradual process.  Once done, you shouldn't need any braces or walking aids as the muscles resume their normal work supporting the knee,  This takes a lot of hard work.  However...

    2. If you want to push the knee in a way you're not really supposed to (I know I can't play hockey anymore but I really, really want to do some easy recreational skating), I want to protect the knee.  Cannot do any impact work like running or jogging but I want something that will prevent the knee from experiencing any torque or twisting.  Talked to Donjoy and they have a brace to do just that...the Defiance model.  Will NOT let the knee twist at all.

Again, docs don't want you to do this and you have to be fully healed and have regained all your strength and flexibility.  However, the choice is always yours.
