Knee crunching

Hi all,
I'm getting a TRHR on 30th November, got delayed from 5th October because of open wound on stomach.
I can only walk now with the aid of crutches, only now I am getting a crunching going in my right knee as well!
Has anyone else suffered this?
I am scared to tell my surgeon in case he delay my new hip

Difficult one but I would be inclined to say about it as at the end of the day your surgeon will be trying to do whatever is best for you.
I was waiting for a difficult revision to my total ankle replacement when my twenty year old hip failed through wear to the poly cup. It was decided that it was best to get the hip done first. The hip was on the opposite side to the problem ankle.
Best wishes.

Could the crunching in your knee be because of walking lop sided due to your hip ? ie it may be ok after your hip is done ! 👣

Hi Sharon:
Before I had both right /left thr, I had an arthroscopic procedure done on each knee , respectively, prior to the thr. Both knees had torn meniscus and we're in bad shape. I had different op surgeons for my hip and knee. The op who did my knees said it would improve the outcome for the thr. He was right and it was a good recommendation /strategy.
At this point I wouldn't delay your thr. However, you may have to go back and get your knees taken care of. Arthroscopic surgery is simpler and is less recovery time. However, the op surgeon did say that at some point I will require knee replacement. Right now the feel very good. I had a lot of the cracking you speak of.
Hope this helps. Take care.

prior my first hip replacement surgery my knee was very painful .. so much so that I thought that it I did not hip but knee replacement surgery ... I even had it taped by a physical therapist .. nothing helped ...
maybe you should tell your surgeon and maybe they will move up your surgery date ....
wishing you a lot of strength Sharon and come here anytime okay
big warm hug

Hi Renee
Thanks for your response. I have been starting to wonder the same!
But when I sit and move I can feel my hip bone on bone clicking and crunching, so I am now wondering if the crunching that I think is in my knee is actually coming from my hip like Lisa said.
They won't bring my surgery forward as it was supposed to be on the 5th October but it was cancelled hours before due to a open wound 😐
