Knee giving way

Posted , 3 users are following.

I'm 20 weeks post op and my knee still gives way when I'm walking so I'm still having to use a cane.

although there isn't much pain now except occasionally during the night.

does anyone else still have this problem at 20 weeks post op?

It is possible that the surgeon removed the posterior cruciate ligament, This makes the knee more unstable. You ned to excercise the hams & quads in the gym as much as possible.

I do my exercises regularly....and also use my pedal machine every day.....

physio here in Sheffield UK isn't all that great

but I will look up some more exercises online ....

      thank you

hi jean -- oh gosh, that's disconcerting!  this only happened to me during the first 6 weeks post op, after that it kind of faded away.  i would also say that you now need exercises to strengthen the muscles as opposed to helping bend / stretch.  or in addition to those.  you may want to get yourself some therabands (special, elastic bands) and there are some really good exercises online in conjunction with tkr's ... these bands are very inexpensive and versatile. you will get there, keep at it!

      Hi Britta

I found a ther's and that I once had for a frozen shoulder

I've been using that today ...so hopefully if I use it regularly it will help

      thanks
