Knee pain 10 weeks thp

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am ten weeks post total hip and doing very well. Back work, driving, walking dog etc.

But I can kneel with legs straight up from knees kneeling on operated leg first and that is fine. But both knees have awful pain if I try to kneel back sitting on ankles/haunches. My knees have always been ok. Has anyone else had this problem.? X

I have not been able to kneel for over 15 yrs due to having 37 ops on my knees... new knees are next on the agenda.

Yep and they say sport is good for you... my fault would not give up and continued until I was in my 40's.... knee condition diagnosed when I was 9 yrs of age.   so learnt to live with the pain...  until now.

    hi tracey,

STOP when it hurts ... you are forcing the ligaments, muscles, tendons etc. to stretch beyond their limit and might be undoing all the repair work done --

it is still so fragile, 10 weeks post-op is really early days .. I know, we are all getting sick hearing this, but it is true -

How great that you can kneel - it took me much longer, especially the getting up part ....

    Big warm hug

     Hi Tracey

Blimey I am  12 weeks post total hip and still worry about hip  dislocation and falling over, never mind doing it deliberately! I am 66  and don't worry about work, haven't got a dog and like winding up my physio by asking when I can drive. That's sure to get her in a tizz  as my left  foot is still not taking any notice of the brain commands. One exercise she has given me is lifting the bad leg  backwards towards my backside, the type of exercise you do to release the hamstrings in a warmup.  I used to be only able to raise it about 4 inches off the ground but now I can get it within a foot of my backside, the knee feels a bits scrunchy but perhaps  This  would Be a good exercise  to start with before you go all yogaish.

I have this exact problem! No idea how to make it better as I used to be able to do this no problem.

Phisio doesn't seem to know how to help either? I was hoping over time it would improve but I've been trying to kneel back for 3 weeks now and still no improvement?!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one thought I was going mad.
